Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall wins NBCC fiction award

Hilary Mantel is back in the spotlight again by winning the US coveted National Book Critics Circle Award.  The prize comes on top of her Booker Prize win for Wolf Hall in 2009.  Hilary was unable to attend the ceremony in New York because of her commitment to work on the sequel to Wolf Hall, which has experienced delays due to Hilary's extra engagements that have arisen due to the books success. Although Hilary does not receive any cash prize for the award, she is said to be delighted at the admiration that Wolf Hall has received, and sees that as its own reward.

 
Wolf Hall is a novel set in the Tudor period, and charts Thomas Cromwell's vantage point on his relationship with Henry VIII and the House of Tudor, during his dramatic reign as King of England. Hilary is a prolific writer, having penned 11 other books. She just needs the attention to die down a little, so that she has the time to produce the next one.
