Grubtown Tales wins Roald Dahl Funny Prize


Veteran children's author, Philip Ardagh, writer of Grubtown Tales has won the Funny Book Literary prize created in the memory of Roald Dahl.


Ardagh's book which tells the story of a little town trying to get rid of a horrible man, fought off competition from the likes of comedian David Walliams and his book about a cross dressing little boy.


Although Ardagh has written more than 70 books for children, this is the authors first major book award and he's said to be "absolutely thrilled".


The awards, which are organised by the Booktrust charity, were presented on Tuesday at a ceremony in London. Each winner walked away with a £2,500 cheque and a bottle of wine from the Dahl family wine cellar.
