Orange Prize For Fiction Shortlist 2010 revealed

After much speculation, the Orange Prize for Fiction Shortlist 2010 has today been announced at the London Book Fair, in Earls Court. The twenty strong longlist has now been filtered down to leave an incredibly diverse selection of six books, written by some of the most talented female fiction writers in the UK over the past year.

Chosen by chairwoman Daisy Goodwin and fellow judges Baroness Julia Neuberger, Michele Roberts, Miranda Sawyer and Alexandra Shulman the shortlist features Hilary Mantel, who has already picked up the Man Booker prize and a mention in the Costa novel of the Year for Wolf Hall, alongside two debut novelists Rosie Alison and Attica Locke. Barbara Kingsolver has also been chosen for The Lacuna, as has Lorrie Moore and Monique Roffey for A Gate at the Stairs and The White Woman on the Green Bicycle, respectively.

The winner of the annual Orange Prize For Fiction will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on 9th June at the Royal Festival Hall, where they will collect the £30,000 prize money.
