Phillipa Gregory to discuss 'The White Queen' at Alnwick Castle

Alnwick Castle will host author Phillipa Gregory as she discusses her latest novel 'The White Queen', on Friday 23rd April. This is not the first time that the beautiful surroundings of Alnwick Castle have been used to add atmosphere and authenticity to a literary creation. The first two Harry Potter Movie's creation of 'Hogwarts' were filmed on location at the castle.
 
Historian Phillipa Gregory will appear as part of Hexham's literature festival and booking for this special event is still possible online.
 
The White Queen was published in paperback on 1st April, 2010, is the beginning of a new series of books by the award winning author, and follows in the trail of the success of 'The Other Boleyn Girl' which became cinema box office hit. The story is set during the war of the roses and the Plantagenet period. Elizabeth Woodville (formerly Lady Elizabeth Grey) is the heroine of the story. She meets Edward IV following the death of her husband in the Battle of St Alban's, as a result of which the family lose their land. The King is captivated by Elizabeth's beauty and they marry. Her life enters a world full of political intrigue and deception, where Elizabeth attempts to restore her family to their former power and ensure a place in the higher echelons for her sons.
