UK Literary Association Book Award announced 2010 shortlist

Introducing children to the gift of reading is often achieved by the promotion of the best practice amongst teachers of literacy throughout primary and secondary school education and is the principle driver of the work of the UKLA charity. The charity, which is now in its 53rd year runs an annual award for the best childrens book.

This year's shortlist has been developed by a selection of teachers, who through their work with pupils and students have been able to establish the books that make the most useful literary contribution to language, expression, meaning and illustration. The award is in two categories representing essentially the primary and secondary school age range. The winning entry will be announced at a wine reception at Winchester University on July 8th 2010.
