Authors try Twitterfiction

Neil Gaiman and Melvin Burgess are experimenting in Twitterfiction, a new way of storytelling in 140-word spurts. The two bestselling children's authors have started stories on the micro-blogging Site Twitter, Gaiman's is about a girl who's spoken to by her reflection and Burgess' is about a mother who is told my an old woman that her babies are not human.
Gaiman's 1,000 long tweet-tale started last week and was followed by 1.2 million people. It is now planned to be turned into an audio book.  Burgess is set to continue on Twiterfiction, he started to write in September and has already completed three stories.

"It's ideal for people with short attention spans," said Burgess... "I only work in short bursts because writing takes a lot of creativity, so after about 20 minutes I need to surface and do something else. Twitter is probably better than solitaire."
