First black woman to scoop top French Literary prize?

In the history of the French Literary prize, the Goncourt, no black woman has ever walked away with its top prize, but that could soon be about to change.

Marie NDiaye, a French-Senegalese writer, has been tipped to win the prestigious award with her latest novel "Trois Femmes Puissantes".  The novel is set between France and Senegal and explores the stories of women who's lives span both continents and are overwhelmed by family secrets and betrayals.

The result will be announced on 2nd November - watch this space!
