JK Rowling accused of plagiarism

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has been accused of stealing a plot from a 1987 book called "The Adventures of Willy the Wizard" by British author Adrian Jacobs.

A lawsuit was filed in a London court on Wednesday by the estate of the late Adrian Jacobs. It claims that the fourth installment of her Rowling's saga "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (2000), copied considerable parts of Jacobs' wizarding book as well as some of his key plot ideas.

A case was originally filed in June against Bloomsbury for alleged copyright infringement, however, Rowling has now been added as a defendant to the case after the estate's trustee, Paul Allen, realised that the statute of limitations to sue her had not expired, as was previously believed.

There has been no comment from Rowling so far, however, back in June, Bloomsbury said that the claim that Rowling had stolen Jacobs' work was "unfounded, unsubstantiated and untrue."

In a recent statement by Allen, it was also said that the estate was looking into whether the Harry Potter films and forthcoming Harry Potter theme park was breaking copyright law.
