Delia's book on track for Christmas No.1

07 December 2009

Delia Smith's latest festive recipe book is set to take the number one spot in the cookbook Christmas chart this year, according to Sainsbury's.

'Delia's Happy Christmas' has already taken 7.2% of all sales and is now outselling Jamie Oliver's America, which has to be content with a pucker second position.

As it stands so far, third place has been taken by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (River Cottage Everyday), followed by Levi Roots (Caribbean Food Made Easy), the Hairy Bikers (Hairy Bikers Food Tour of Britain), Nigella Lawson (Nigella Express), Rick Stein (Rick's Far Eastern Odyssey) , Nigel Slater (A Cook and his Vegetable Patch) and Rachel Allen (Home Cooking).

Last year the top spot went to Jamie Oliver for his book Jamie's Ministry of Food, which took a staggering 11.4% of sales.
