Hamilton wins William Hill prize for second time

Duncan Hamilton's biography of Harold Larwood has led the author to win the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award for the second time in three years.


Hamilton's book about the bowler fought-off fierce competition from five other shortlisted titles, counting three entries from Random, including Eclipse (Bantam) by Nicholas Clee. In 2007, Hamilton also won the prize with a biography about Brian Clough called Provided You Don't Kiss Me (Fourth Estate).


Hamilton, a former deputy editor of the Yorkshire Post and journalist at the Nottingham Evening Post for 20 years, was awarded the £21,000 cash prize, a £2,000 William Hill bet, a hand-bound copy of his book and a day at the races, at a ceremony at Waterstone's Piccadilly on 26th November.
