Stephen King to write The Shining sequel?

Speaking at a Toronto publicity event for his latest book, The Dome, Stephen King revealed that since last summer he has been working on a provisional idea for a sequel to The Shining, which was first published in 1977.


In The Shining, a young boy named Danny escaped the evil Overlook Hotel, which possessed his father and sent him on a chilling hunt to kill Danny and his mother. King says, Danny, would have been left "with a lifetime's worth of emotional scars "and that the way he deals with his twisted experiences would make "a damn fine sequel".


The Shining was made into a film in 1980 by Stanley Kubrick and starred Jack Nicholson as Danny's father Jack Torrance.
