The Unbelievable Truth is the award-winning a BBC radio 4 comedy panel game devised by Graeme Garden and Jon Naismith - creator and producer respectively of the legendary Radio 4 comedy show I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. The Unbelievable Truth is chaired by David Mitchell and is described in the programme's introduction as, 'The panel game built on truth and lies'. The first series was broadcast on 23 April 2007 and has gone on to broadcast seven series, with an eighth being recorded for transmission winter 2011 and a ninth confirmed for 2012. The panel is made up of four players. In the game each of the panelists is given a subject on which they give a short address. Everything in the lecture is composed of lies, but during the course of the speech the lecturer must try to smuggle five true statements past the rest of the panel.
