The Best That I Can be Book

About Timothy John Mason: Timothy John Mason was born in July 1961, he moved to Devon in the late 1980's, where he now lives, in Teignmouth, in his flat with his cat and carers dropping in at certain times in the day. In March 2004, he suffered a catastrophic stroke, taking away he's ability to walk and his speech. Tim now uses a powered wheelchair. Tim wasn't given a favourable prognosis, just that he was likely to remain in a vegetative state for the rest of his life. Proving doctors wrong, Tim went from strength to strength, and although still wheelchair bound and now being just understandable, he has built a very independent life for himself and continues to beat the odds. He has two young sons, one of whom lives very locally. The other lives in Italy with his mum, Claudia, Tim's amazing girlfriend This book has now been rewritten & is now vastly different from his original book, which was published in 2006. It now follows Tim's progress from his initial stroke to moving in to his own flat. Through his incredible humour, he shows how it is possible to have a life after a catastrophic medical event. A Message from Tim: I think this book would prove invaluable to anyone who is involved in the medical industry, from management to nursing staff/carers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, etc. Anybody that comes into contact with disabled people-which we all do at some point in our life, I know I did before this happened. This book is very educational, as it teaches us all, that although there is a severe disability, we can still be very intellectual. It shows you what can be achieved, and encourages us to deal with our disabilities-either directly or indirectly. Life is what you make it. The inspiration is in getting up every day and making it the best you can. Visit Tim on the web at: http://www.tjmason.netRead More
