When Sophie, "one sleepy woodchuck", tries to find a place to rest her pillow, she finds restful sleep might not be as easily come by as she first thought.Crunching, munching cows; croaking frogs; tweeting birds; miaowing cats; barking dogs--all these are hazards Sophie must try to avoid if she is finally to rest her head.But when the solution does arise, Charlotte Woodchuck is equally annoyed by Sophie's loud, sonorous snoring.Somewhat American in feel, this charming story is a little let down by fairly monochromatic illustrations, but the onomatopoeic animal noises interrupting Sophie's (and Charlotte's!) sleep will give little minds plenty to focus on and imitate.
