INTRODUCTORY NOTICE. HE family of the late Osborne Gordon l avail them-selves of this opportunity to express their grateful sense of the respect she vnto his memory. The monument erected to him in the Cathedral Cloister of Christ Church, executed by Mr. Conrad Dressier, admirable in itself, has a further value, as indicating the wide-spread sympathy, extending to Royalty itself, in which it originated. His friends are under especial obligations to the Dean and Chapter of Christ Church, to whose hearty co-operation thc successful completion of the memorial is niainly due. Barker, R. G. Whynyates, Professor H. B. Leech and to C. F. Hawker, Esq., and Mr. Dougal of East Hampstead, for information upon many interesting particulars. His family would not have so many debts of gratitude to acknowledge had riot so many been forward to help. The Memorial at East Hampstead, with an inscription by Mr. Ruskin, has been carried out with no less success, and upon no smaller a scale, than that at Christ Church to be followed, it is hoped, at no distant day, by a work for the benefit of the rapidly increasing population of the parish, vhich t, he late Rector had greatly at heart, and for which his successor, the Rev. Herbert Salmey, is equally solicitous. For all the good offices and kindly sympathy which have abounded to do honour to a name so dear to them, the friends of Osbornc Gordon beg once more to tender their respectful thanks.
