Oops the Join Book

Poetry. These poems were originally written based on a book of watercolors by Siobhan Liddell. The dedication: "for absent drawings by Siobhan" creates an intriguing frame around the poems which, then, seem to refer to absent works on paper or to some other kind of absence. Their presentation in Rem Press' appealing format -- a spiralbound notebook-like publication with a large amount of white space -- adds to the sense of "reading" an absent drawing. In the event, the work is compelling, with a persuasive vocabulary ("saliva," "yolk," "wobbly drenches"), interesting forms and just plain good lines" "(whippety stourie is my name)". Fiona Templeton was born and grew up ion Scotland, co-founded The Theater of Mistakes in London in the mid-70s, and has lived in New York for 15 years, writing and directing. Among her other books are CELLS OF RELEASE and YOU -- THE CITY (both Roof Books) and LONDON (Sun & Moon).Read More
