Numerology (Ancient Wisdom) Book

New Holland Publishers have created a series of desirable handbooks termed Ancient Wisdom for the New Age. The subjects covered include Numerology, I Ching, Feng Shui, Tarot, Runes and Palmistry. Each book is beautifully designed in a recognisable series style--a smart hardcover with a stylish jacket, and slimline chapters with colour illustrations throughout. They make perfect gift books, just as the publisher intends, and they also work as concise and informative introductions to very complex forms of divination. It's a shame there's no information on the individual authors, but that's only a very minor criticism because each book has a definite authority of tone which inspires confidence and whets the appetite for more detail. The book on numerology opens with a brief history of how this ancient art developed. The Babylonians and Egyptians, ancient Hindus and Chinese, are all thought to have contributed to the form of divining by numbers, but modern numerology seems to have taken its current shape as late as the 20th century. Further chapters reveal the numbers related to our astrological birth-signs, the numbers related to our names, biblical numbers and numerology alongside the tarot. With an extent of 63 pages, this handbook can't possibly cover everything. But it does work as an excellent entry point, and as a beautiful gift book.-- Lucas LoBlackRead More
