FrontPage 98 for Dummies Book

Whether you've always dreamed of having your own Web page, you're just beginning a career in Web design, or you're a seasoned Web veteran just starting out with FrontPage 98, Asha Dornfest's FrontPage 98 for Dummies will offer you a thorough introduction and reference for quickly getting up and running without having to learn HTML. Parts 1 and 2 introduce the software, describe the Explorer and Editor, and discuss most of the key functions (from inserting graphics to creating forms). Part 3 includes advanced topics like Active Elements, user registration, and interactive discussion forums. Part 4 is all about access: putting your page on the Web and restricting access to it. The book ends, of course, with the "Part of Tens" signature section of the For Dummies series. FrontPage 98 is not a difficult software package to use, but it is difficult to master its full functionality. Dornfest focuses, then, on "the unwritten rules and tricks of the trade" in Web design that are facilitated by the software. Chapter 4, "Web Design Fundamentals," for example, considers the cultural differences, platform differences, software differences, and modem/Internet Service Provider (ISP) differences of your potential users, and it subsequently suggests ways to meet their needs. Her instructions are given step by step, describing which keys to press when, and generous screen shots illuminate most discussions. The enclosed CD-ROM includes MindSpring Internet access as well as shareware or freeware versions of PaintShop Pro, WinZip, and Power Point Animation Player & Publisher. --Patrick O'KelleyRead More
