EXCEL 2000 Bible Book

The Microsoft Excel 2000 Bible is a comprehensive reference for probably the most powerful spreadsheet package available. Beginning with the basics, the author explores the huge number of features that Excel has to offer, in a style that is clear and friendly, but businesslike. He pulls off the trick of providing for everyone. If you've never used a spreadsheet, or even if you are not that familiar with computers, all is explained in the introductory chapters. If you're familiar with Excel 97, there is a quick update on what's new in 2000. If you're an expert user already, you might skip the basic chapters and look for specific features you want to know more about. This book will be equally at home in the hands of a spreadsheet novice wanting a bar-chart as on the desk of an Excel wizard constructing databases, pivot tables and VB scripts. It is abundantly illustrated, indexed, and easy to find your way around. As in all the IDG Bible series, marginal icons serve to highlight new features, useful tips and common pitfalls. The introductory chapters explain the various menus and toolbars and look at entering data, navigating around the worksheet and formatting rows and columns. Following this are chapters on using cell ranges, formulas and lookup functions. Along with charts and graphics the principles of designing your spreadsheet for presentations are considered. The later more advanced sections, taking up about half the book, cover topics such as Array Formulas, the new Internet features in Excel 2000, Data Analysis and Visual Basic (VB) programming. An appendix is provided for users wishing to import formulas from Lotus 1-2-3. The CD-ROM which comes with the book contains many of the authors own utilities, and even some games written entirely in Excel to illustrate its programming potential. --Frank PennycookRead More
