Hetty Feather Book

Set in the 1800s, Hetty Feather is the story of a young girl who was abandoned by her mother when she was a tiny baby. Hetty is left at the Foundling Hospital in London, which aims to teach abandoned children like her to be servants. But Hetty is too small to start school, so is sent to the countryside to live with some foster parents and their children Jem and Gideon until she is six. Hetty and her new foster brothers get on fantastically and one day they even sneak off to visit a travelling circus, where Hetty meets Madame Adeline and is awestruck by her. But as planned, when Hetty is old enough, she is made to return to the bleak Foundling Hospital with its nasty uniform and discussing food and she finds its worlds apart from her happy countryside upbringing. The only glimmer of hope is for Hetty to try and get back to a place where she was happiest, at the circus, and continue the search to find her real mother. But will she ever find Madame Adeline and her circus? And if she does, will it be her happy-ever-after?Read More
