Teach Yourself Photography book cover
I moved on from using an APS camera to a Nikon F80 SLR film camera about three years ago. My daughter started to study photography at the same time so there were plenty of available text books to choose from. I just found this the best, as I was totally clueless I was very impressed with the clear explanations - the penny even finally dropped on the subject of depth of field! There are plenty of diagrams and graphics and photographs to illustrate points. There are chapters on every aspect of photography, and although the book may be dated now and the vast majority of people have moved on to digital cameras since the book was written; I still feel it has enormous value for any novice photographer coming to grips with an SLR for the first time; and my photography has definitely improved as a result of reading it. read more.
