 | As a writer and editor, I tend to read critically, because errors leap off the page at me. Not with this book (not with Lynda La Plante generally, as it happens!) it was read for pure pleasure. Tremendous storyline, all the love, passion, poverty, riches, great boxing scenes, wonderful Romany scenes, great Welsh mining scenes you could want peopled with real characters who came alive on the page and continue into the mind after finishing the book. I have ordered Talisman, to find out how the story continues. If Lynda had half the enjoyment writing this as I had from reading it, then she was on to a good thing, for enjoyment in writing is equal to the royalties any time, if not more so. She is a true storyteller. I don't say that lightly. read more.
