 | Rick Warren's Purpose driven church is a book that will turn your thinking about what church is all about. Why does your church exist? Is it purely for those who currently attend. Built on the foundation of the Great Commandment (to love God and love your neighbour) and the Great Commission (to Go into all nations and...), Warren encourages the church to focus on 5 purposes of "outreach, fellowship, disciplship, worship and ministry" and organise the church around these purposes. It recognises that everyone is on a spiritual journey and therefore the book suggests that the church needs to focus on five groups of people (community - unchurched, crowd - attenders, congregation, committed and the core) and build the church from the outside-in, i.e. reach the unchurch and take them through to committed and serving God.
