 | This is at times highly entertaining although it lacks some of the acidity that he was renowned for. It appears at times, and when it does it sparkles like magic, but for the most, the comments are fairly muted - perhaps he was more thoughtful in prose than in spoken word. But you do get a wonderful picture of a self-obsessed, vain actor who was one of the greatest this country has ever produced. It is less insightful than say the Kenneth Williams diaries - obviously because one is a diary and the other letters, but worth a read, particulalry the early years. read more.
