Get ready for another journey along the Rain Wild Rivers with Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb, a standalone novel which returns to the world of the Liveship Traders. Tintaglia, the Blue Dragon, has hatched a batch of healthy dragons and is no longer interested in the underdeveloped Dragons that came from the cocoons of Maulkin's Serpent Tangle. Survival of the fittest is crucial so the Council decide that the pack must be moved to better hunting grounds and some dispensable citizens are gathered to tend to the beasts and escort them upriver. Amongst those leaving is Thymara, who because of her many abnormalities is a constant disappointment to her mother and was only raised by her father's insistence. Thymara is excited about the adventure and grabs the opportunity with both hands, much to the relief of her mother who is glad to be rid of her ugly, unmarried daughter. Perhaps the dragons will find their true home up river, or are the youngsters simply as naive as the beasts and don't realize that they are being sent into exile rather than the sanctuary they expect.
