Are iBooks on the way?

Yesterday (Wednesday 27th January) Apple unveiled the newest edition to their 'i family', the iPad, which will be available to purchase in the UK from June, with prices starting from £308 for the 16GB version.

The handheld 9.7 inch touchscreen computer has the capabilities of a laptop, but without the keypad, it will also allow users to flip the screen horizontally or vertically, play music, stream videos and read eBooks.

Experts suggest the iPad will lead the way for an Apple iBook store, which will work in a similar way to iTunes. The user will have the ability to use the device to purchase a book from the Apple store, read it and turn the pages through the flick of a finger.
