Author Paul Quarrington passes away
Paul Quarrington, author of books such as Whale Music, The Ravine and Galveston, has passed away at his home in Toronto last Thursday (21st January).
The 56 year old, who lost his battle with lung cancer, was due to release his memoir, Cigar Box Banjo, in May this year. He was also putting together his first solo album, as well as recording another CD with his band Porkbelly Futures.
Quarrington, picked up the Governor General's Award for Fiction in 1989 for Whale Music, which follows the life of a musical recluse, and more recently he won the 2008 Canada Reads competition for his novel King Leary.
