Debut Author Scoops Waterstone's Children's Book Award!

This is the 5th year of the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize, which was created to discover the latest talent in children’s writing and to raise the profile of up-and-coming authors.

And the winner is...

The winner of the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Award 2009 is Michelle Harrison with her gothic fairy story, Thirteen Treasures, which tells the tale of Tanya, a young girl who can see fairies and tries to find out the truth about a mystery that haunts her families past.

Michelle is said to be now working on a sequel to The Thirteen Treasures, which she will again illustrate herself – so keep your eyes peeled!
