 | This book was written for me. Or so I believed. I am a relatively experienced user of the various Microsoft operating systems in home and office environments but, until recently, I had never used Windows 2000 Professional outside the workplace. I was all set to enrol for a course at night school until I remembered the "Dummies" series I discovered years ago when suddenly confronted with the brand new Windows 95. I have used several "Dummies" titles since and have looked on their authors as the ideal teachers most of us never had: gentle, endlessly patient, ready with a joke, and never ever making you feel like as though you really are a dummy. This book is the 'friendly guide' it claims to be, but it is by no means an 'ideal introduction' to Windows 2000 Professional. In fact, it is difficult to find much that is specific to the Windows 2000 operating system. The majority of the text consists of very basic information relevant to any version of Windows.
