 | The first thing that struck me about this book was how entertaining it is. Perhaps that's unsurprising, given Rick Wakeman's tremendous sense of humour, but it's good to find the humour coming across so strongly from him in written form. It's also good to find a man of Wakeman's celebrity status who can laugh at himself. The account of the round of golf in the storm is a case in point.
But the book fills in a lot of information about Wakeman's difficulties in life, and certainly has its serious aspects. There a quite a number of things I never knew until I read this.
Basically it's a must for anyone interested in Rick Wakeman and in the music of Yes.
I'm surprised by the high prices the book's getting second-hand, but it no longer seems to be available any other way. I wonder if maybe there are no plans to reprint it given the fact that he's moved on from the relationship with which the book ends (or so I'm told)?
